The Weekend that Was... ...Over

Finally I’m getting to do an entry. The weekends of late have just evaporated, this week we had The Great Shoe Search, Project Garden Edging, Toys for the Lawn and Too Much Food. Not too mention playing with and training our puppy, the weekend is over in a flash.

The Great Shoe Search

The search has actually been going on for sometime now. BatBat had decided to trade in her tights and pointy shoes for some open toed strappy numbers this summer. She has very sore toes and hoped to get some relief by wearing shoes that wouldn’t put pressure on her toes. Over the past few weeks BatBat has been systematically going through all of Perth’s shoe shops in an attempt to find some shoes that satisfied an ever increasing exclusion criteria. Some of the things wrong included, too ugly, stupid wedges, too narrow at the toes, too much foot out, too high, wrong texture, straps in the wrong place and too expensive. It seems shoe designer like to build a flaw into every pair of shoes they market. I’m happy to report, however, that after a four hour trip around Perth City she actually managed to find a pair for work and a pair for casual wear, I suspect that she still wants a dressier pair though so the search goes on.

Project Garden Edging

Last weekend we impulse bought some 60 limestone garden blocks to edge our fledging garden. They were delivered during the week on a pallet plonked in the middle of our lawn. We didn’t want the grass to die so we had to loosely placed the blocks around the garden edge to move the pallet out of the way. On Sunday we had a go at ‘installing’ the blocks in a more permanent arrangement but it was so hot and ‘fly-y’ that we didn’t get very far. BatBat got burnt on her neck in the very short time she was in the sun. This project is on hold for a little while, while we think of a better way to arrange the blocks.

Toys for the Lawn

We went to the evil Bunnings empire and bought an electric hover lawnmower and an electric edger. We thought we can’t have the lawnmower guy come anymore once our puppy, Kaylee, is roaming the back yard. Sunday morning we assembled them while Kaylee played with the cardboard parking. Unfortunately we couldn’t try the out because Sunday is our watering day (we have water restrictions here) and the lawn was wet. It wasn't until Monday night that I got to test them out. I think they will work out alright, we just have to be motivated to actually do it ;)

Too Much Food

We went for late lunch on Sunday and as usual I ate too much. Wine, Garlic bread, Chicken Kiev with chips, Cookies and Cream cake and a Mocha. I felt like the Goodyear blimp.

Sunday evening we just crashed, I think we were into bed by about 9pm. These busy weekends and raising a puppy really take it out of you.
